Ireland contributes to CMP’s mission with a €50,000 donation

PRESS RELEASE

(Nicosia, 04 December 2007) – The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) wishes to express its gratitude to the government of Ireland for its second donation of €50,000 in a year made in favour of the CMP Project on the Exhumation, Identification and Return of Remains of Missing Persons in Cyprus. This renewed donation will help the CMP pursue its endeavours well into 2008. 

It is estimated that the remains exhumed so far relate to over 350 individuals. Fifty-seven individuals have been identified so far and their remains returned to their families. Next year will see more exhumations and more identifications taking place.
