The Government of Ireland donates €50,000 to CMP

(Nicosia, 11 December 2008) – The Committee on Missing Persons wishes to express its profound gratitude to the Government of Ireland for its commitment and continued support following its third donation of €50,000. This brings the Irish financial assistance to a total of €150,000 over the past two years.

This renewed donation to the CMP Project on the Exhumation, Identification and Return of Remains of Missing Persons in Cyprus will contribute to the Committee’s goal of identifying and returning as many remains of missing individuals as possible.  To date, 465 sets of remains of missing persons have been exhumed and 108 identified and returned to their families for a proper burial.
