CMP reports a first case of COVID-19

The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) wishes to inform that it received confirmation today that one CMP staff member has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). Subsequently, and in full accordance with CMP’s standard operating procedures and COVID-19 protocols, all other staff members who were in close contact with the individual have also been placed in strict isolation for 14 days. Contact tracing has been conducted of all staff members who the individual has come into contact with during the last week.

CMP confirms that operations are running normally

In view of reports that appeared in the media this week, the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) would like to clarify its operations. The Committee’s bicommunal excavations resumed on 2 July 2020 after the lifting of COVID-19 related restrictions on crossing points in Cyprus. CMP also confirms that its Anthropological Laboratory resumed its analyses and identification of missing persons on 22 June 2020.

CMP Resumes Full Operations

The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus resumes full operations. With the reopening of crossing points, bi-communal excavations are resuming as of tomorrow July 2nd, while CMP’s Anthropological Laboratory had returned to its regular operations as of 22 June.

The Russian Federation donates 50,000 US dollars to the CMP

(Nicosia, 27 January 2020) – The Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) wishes to express its sincere thanks to the Government of the Russian Federation for its generous donation of USD 50,000 made today on the occasion of the visit to its anthropological Laboratory of H.E. Mr. Stanislav Viliorovich Osadchiy, Ambassador to Cyprus. This is the first donation of the Russian Federation to the Committee.
