U.N. Assistant Secretary-General Jenča visits CMP and commends its work
(Nicosia 15 March 2019) –Mr. Miroslav Jenča, U.N. Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas (Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Department of Peace Operations) held a meeting with the three CMP Members at their anthropological laboratory on 15 March.
The Members briefed Mr. Jenča on CMP’s challenges and results. The Assistant Secretary-General underscored the U.N.’s full support to the CMP and reiterated the importance of its work as it helps build confidence between communities across the island. Mr. Jenča plans to brief the U.N. Security Council Members on his mission to Cyprus, including CMP’s work and achievements. The CMP Members stated their commitment to continue to achieve tangible results to enable closure for the relatives and families of the missing people of Cyprus.
The CMP Members will brief the Assistant Secretary-General again during their forthcoming visit to the U.N. headquarters in New York in May.
