(Nicosia, 2 July 2014) – The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) would like to thank the family of the late Glafcos Clerides and all those who generously responded to their call for donations to the CMP. The total amount of donations made, which the CMP received today, is 87,000 EUR.
These funds will contribute to the ongoing implementation of the CMP project on the Exhumation, Identification and Return of Remains of Missing Persons in Cyprus, in particular to pay for the extraction and analysis of DNA.
The CMP is striving to locate, exhume, identify and return the remains of as many individuals as possible in order to bring an end to the painful uncertainty which has affected so many families for so many years.
To date, the remains of nearly 1100 individuals have been exhumed while 521 have been identified and returned to their families.
