CMP reports a first case of COVID-19

(Nicosia, 20 October 2020) – The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) wishes to inform that it received confirmation today that one CMP staff member has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). Subsequently, and in full accordance with CMP’s standard operating procedures and COVID-19 protocols, all other staff members who were in close contact with the individual have also been placed in strict isolation for 14 days. Contact tracing has been conducted of all staff members who the individual has come into contact with during the last week.

Since the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19, as a standard precautionary heath procedure, all CMP staff members engaged in bi-communal activities have been undergoing PCR diagnostic tests every two weeks.  The Committee’s bi-communal operations at the CMP Anthropological Laboratory and at field excavation sites across the island are ongoing. Nonetheless, effective immediately CMP’s in-person meetings are suspended for one month and are replaced by online meetings during this period.
