CMP Press Release

Release Date: Jun 18, 2012

(Nicosia, 18 June 2012) – The Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the Government of the Slovak Republic for its generous donation of 10 000 Euro. The check was presented by The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák at the CMP Anthropological laboratory at the United Nations Protected Area.

This donation is a part of the ongoing international support that enables the CMP to continue its project on the Exhumation, Identification and Return of Remains of Missing Persons in 2012-2013. Thanks to this support, the CMP is being able to move along in its efforts to locate and identify as many remains as possible in order to bring a closure to the tragedy that has affected so many families on the island for so many years.

To date, remains of over 850 individuals have been exhumed and over 320 returned to the families concerned.
