Phase II - Anthropological Phase

 CMP anthropological laboratory (facility)

The CMP Anthropological Laboratory is located in the United Nations Protected Area (UNPA) near the Old Nicosia Airport. It was built during the first semester of 2006 and became operational in August 2006.

It is made of one main unit (the actual laboratory), a storage facility for the exhumed remains, and other administrative units.

In March 2008, a Family Viewing Facility was inaugurated, to enable the families of missing persons to meet with the scientists involved in the identification process and view the remains of their loved one.

 CMP Anthropological Lab

A Bi-Communal Team made of 9 Cypriot Anthropologists is analysing exhumed remains before bone samples are sent to the CING Laboratory of Forensic Genetics for DNA typing. The CMP Bi-Communal Team is now functioning autonomously after having been working under the general supervision and coordination of international experts from the Equipo Argentino de Anthropologia Forense (EAAF - Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team) until the end of September 2008. EAAF continues to be involved in the project for quality control purposes.
